The lack of a Paraguay War avoids economic and politic turmoil in Brazil, and the butterflies allow Pedro the II of Brazil a have a male heir [Afonso I] who survives, assuming the imperial throne when his father dies in 1895.A coup is attempted in 1889, but the absurd popularity of Perdo II by both the common people [including the military outside of the officer corps] allowed them to easily crush the coup.
