Description:

Following the Death of Marie Louise in 1847, Leopold II, Left Lucca to become Duke of Parma. The people of Lucca were heavily pro Tuscan and they united with Tuscany in 1848.

However, with a Hapsburg no longer ruling over Parma, the state fell out of the Austrian sphere of influence, leading to the Parma-Sardinian War.
