Description:
In March Shanxi declares the Qing government illegitimate, followed by Yunnan, in an arrangement designed to re-ignite the war. Fengtian and its allies immediately mobilize, but Zhang Zongchang reneges on his prior agreements, using his newly supplied Japanese arms to consolidate his own rule instead.
