This Supreme Court case integrated schools, ruling that "separate educational facilities are inherently unequal". This case began the long and tumultuous process of integrating public schools in the U.S.(Photo: U.S. marshals attend school in New Orleans with six year old Ruby Bridges. Despite a crowd of protesters, Bridges would attend integrated schools until her graduation. Bridges now lives in New Orleans and serves as the chair of the Ruby Bridges Foundation, a charity organization that works to promote tolerance and respect.)
