1 juill. 1961 - Roberta Patrick becomes part-time executive secretary of the Community Givers of Iowa City, Coralville, and University Heights

Description:

This was one of United Way's first long-term, paid positions. The position was necessary to ensure that workplace pledges were returned on time.
In her time as executive secretary, Patrick enacted the Community Givers’ early non-discrimination policy. One agency recieving funds refused adoption rights to non-Christians, and she refused to work with them until this policy was adapted to be more inclusive.
