Presenting an extreme, Carrie talked of the emotional trauma adolescents inflict and exhibit on a day to day basis, a widely overlooked topic. Carrie forced society to examine the state of American classrooms as well as the lack of inaction from faculty regarding bullying. Furthermore, the development of social media only exacerbated King's message, making it more relevant today.
