13 mars 1920 - Kapp Putsch

Description:

Right wing attack on the republic: the Weimar government had attempted to disband the Freikorps, but General von Seekt (leader of the army) and General Lüttwitz (military leader of Berlin) called for the Freikorps to resist, and march on Berlin. President Ebert and Chancellor Baur fled to the south, where Ebert sought the help of workers, who went on general strike (the middle class had no sympathy of such rebels). This demonstrates the weakness of the government, and how they must rely on army power. It also revealed deep fractures, and the need to have a strong army to unite the government and the army (Hitler).
