The Third Battle of Krithia was the final attack in the series of the Allied attacks against the Ottoman defenses. British troops on the Cape Helles front at Gallipoli had been expanded to three divisions. The British had been advancing their front line during the night. The French occupied the eastern side of Helles and were confronted by the strongest Ottoman defenses dominated by four redoubts, managing to only capture one. The less ambitious plan led to the outcome of another costly failure for the Allies. The Ottomans launched a counterattack against the 29th division, almost breaking the British. Both sides were serverely damaged, but it was the Allied poweres who pulled out first and lost the battle for a third time.
