The Second Battle of Krithia was a continuation of the Allies attempts to advance of the Helles battlefield. The village of Krithia and Achi Baba had to be captured for the British to advance up the Gallipoli peninsula. The new plan attack was divided into three phases. The first phase was a general advance from the French one mile across the front. In the second phase, the British would turn on the Frech position and capture Krithia. The third phase would capture Achi Baba. The Allied advance was stopped by the strong Ottoman empire. After only three days of fighting, the Allied abandoned their assault without even completing the first phase, only advancing 600 yards. The Allies still had no idea where the Ottoman fortifications were. One-third of the allied soldiers were lost and the British asked for additional divisions.
