10 déc. 2015 - Every Student Succeeds Act

Description:

This is the latest re-authorization of the Education and Secondary Schools Act. It replaced NCLB, and was meant to fix some of NCLB's problems.

It still requires students to take standardized tests and for schools to report their scores.

The main idea behind it is to give states and local districts more control over education. There is more flexibility in determining how schools meet required standards. There are also more factors involved in determining a school's overall rating.

Critics argue that it does not address the issue of vulnerable groups, particularly children living in poverty.

So far, this seems to be successful, especially because it addressed much of what was problematic about NCLB. However, without accounting for problematic groups, only time will tell if it has long-term potential.
