The last catalogue in the series 'Topical Catalogues of the Iconography of Venus from the Middle Ages to Modern Times' was recently compiled, has been published as pdf and paperback and is now added to the section 'Topical Catalogues' of the website 'Venus Iconography', which gathers all volumes and much more about the related Digital Thematic Research Collection (1).
With this sixth catalogue of 1371 artworks (sculptures, reliefs, paintings, frescoes, drawings, prints and illustrations) of 629 identified artists of the Eastern, Southern and Northern European Regions, the total compilation counts now more than 14,000 artworks of 5421 European artists over a period of 500 years. The thematic collection allows for distant viewing, macroanalysis and the quantitative approach which brings a new wave of 'knowledge' in art history, about which this Blog reports since June 2011 (2).
