Description:
As a teen, Steinbeck was a rebellious loner who seemed to live in a world of his own. At age 15, his freshmen English teacher encouraged Steinbeck (who showed promising writing skills) to pursue a writing career. As a result, Steinbeck spent hours of his time in his bedroom writing stories and poems.Pictured is Salinas High School at the time John attended.
