Eddy makes off with a good portion of funds as well as a collection of rare occult books including Bowen’s field notes dealing with Egyptian funerary customs and transcripts from the tomb of Nephren-Ka, though they are incomplete as Bowens notes were extensive and stored in many volumes.

Bowen lets this slide and did not invest resources in hunting down Eddy. For Eddy was a younger initiate and never extended the full trust of Bowen... The records Eddy stole were not important in the grand scheme to Bowen. (Especially considering the Mythos tombs Bowen would accumulate in the coming years.) His efforts were to discover the mysteries of the Shining Trapezohedron. Eddy had already translated much of the transcriptions and the notebook Eddy took was one of Bowens earliest during his time exploring Nephren's Tomb.

Eddy hates Bowen but Bowen is indifferent to Eddy. Bowen is indifferent to most human life. Judging the understanding of the secrets of the universe more important than any one life.
