An unknown Gefreiter (Corporal) Adolf Hitler, a Verbindungsmann (Spy) for an Aufklarungskommando (Reconnaissance Unit) of the Reichswehr's (Army) Education and Propaganda Department (Dept Ib/P) in Bavaria, is assigned to influence other soldiers and to infiltrate the German Worker's Party (DAP). At a DAP meeting in September 1919, party chairman Anton Drexler was impressed with Hitler's oratorical skills, and Hitler's superiors ordered him to apply to join the party.
