The assassination of president JFK was absolutely shocking to the entire nation and completely left everyone distraught because he was such a likeable president, doing so much good for the country as a whole. President Johnson was sworn into office the next day and had to deal with the burden of a tumultuous time with the problem of civils right at a forefront.
