In 8th grade malcolm dropped out of highschool after a white teacher humiliated him after he talked about his aspirations to be a lawyer as an adult, to this she responded it was "no realistic goal for a N" This obviously upset and embarrassed Malcolm, who then felt that no matter who smart he was he'd never be valued and then decided that learning was pointless.
