Description:

This election took place during the Great Depression. Democratic candidate, Franklin Roosevelt, defeated Republican candidate, Herbert Hoover, in a landslide. Roosevelt’s campaign mostly focused on the failures of Hoover’s administrations and he promised to bring the U.S. out of the Great Depression with a “New Deal”. This was the first elections in 16 years that a Democratic candidate has won.
