21 mars 1968 - Battle of Karameh

Description:

Karameh was the Fatah camp that Arafat had his base in. It was in Jordan. After the Six Day War, Arafat had been forced out of the West Bank, but was now making attacks over the Jordanian border, sometimes with help from the Jordanian army.

After Fatah blew up an Israeli school bus (2 adults killed, 10 children wounded), Israel decided to destroy Karameh with 15000 troops.

They destroyed the base and took 150 prisoners, with 28 casualties on their side and around 200 on the Fatah/Jordan side.

As a result:
- 5000 new recruits joined Fatah in 2 days
- Fatah increased its number of attacks
- Arafat's reputation improved
