Description:

Harold was chosen by the Witan as the new king and his coronation took place on the same day as Edward's burial.

Challenges:
-From other powerful earls.
-Acceptance in the north after the uprising against Tostig.
-Tostig was gathering allies against him.
-William of Normandy was threatening an invasion.

Responses:
-Immediately after the coronation went to York to secure his support from other Witan members.
-He gathered a large army along the south coast of England and stationed a large fleet to defend against invasion.
