Description:
-Joseph McCoy built the first cow town, Abilene in 1867.
-The town acted as a transit point for cattle herds.
-It was located on a commonly-used, well known cattle trail near the railroad which allowed for easy access and transport.
-McCoy developed the town quickly, building hotels and stockyards.
-The town was very successful and over 3 million cattle were driven through between 1867 and 1872.
