Description:
May 26, 1938,the U.S. House of Representatives created an organization called the House of Un-American Activities. the organizations job was to investigated allegations of communist activity in the U.S. during the early years of the Cold War. the committee wielded its subpoena power as a weapon and called citizens to testify in high-profile hearings before Congress. the atmosphere around the committee was very intimidating.
