Description:

During the Cold War in the United States, the Civil war in China was going on. The United States supported Chiang, sending him and the Nationalists $3 Billion in aid. The US played the peacemaker while still supporting the Nationalists to try to halt the spread of communism. However, this aid wasn't enough to impact the outcome of the war. Chiang eventually fled to Taiwan, and containment had failed. Those in the US attacked Truman for only aiding the Nationalists in China, rather than sending money to other places.
