|1858|The Great Stink of London was caused by the inadequate sewage solutions and the waste (especially industrial waste and human faeces) in the Thames.
It resulted in the creation of the modern London sewer system that no longer dumped waste into the Thames and brought the end to the cholera outbreaks.
