Description:
Mao believed that many members of the CCP were revisionists who had become too fond of power and good living. Mao decided to purge the party, removing any of his people who acted more like capitalists than communists.
Mao removed Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping, recognising them as his greatest enemies. Mao imprisoned Liu and left him to die.
