Durnig special ceremonies a string would be pulled at the back of the head to make the transformation
Potlatch= a ceremony where the host displayed his status in part by giving gifts to those in attendance. the potlatch ceremony was deemed immoral by missionaries b/c they believed they prevented the native people from becoming civilized
animals= tricksters
only could be worn by people of high status, conveyed a special position and portrayed a family's genealogy by displaying family crest symbols
