German kids wore pretzels around their necks, Austrians used them in Easter egg hunts, and in Switzerland it was seen as good luck if the bride and groom pulled on both sides of a pretzel to create two pieces, the larger one would bring prosperity to their marriage, this is also where the saying "tying the knot" came about.
