Description:

in 1793 Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin that quickly became really popular in the south. The south became the cotton producing part of the country because the cotton gin was able to pull out the seeds from the cotton bolls. this lead to the civil war, because it increased the amounts of slavery in the south. Cotton growing became so profitable that it greatly increased their demand for both land and slave labor.
