There were over 887 moai. 14 made of basalt, the rest from softer tuff.
Moai embody the spirit of ancestors. New Zealanders spoke english and Rapa Nui was spanish, but they both spoke Maori, a common language connecting them. This suggest travel, not isolated cultures
