Born in New York, Michael van Beuren was a student of the Bauhaus, under the direction of Mies van der Rohe, just before the triumph of Nazism in Germany caused the final closure of the school. In 1937 Michael arrived in Mexico for a commission for several months in the decoration of the Flamingo's hotel in Acapulco ... and ended up staying in the country for the rest of his life.
