Medgar Evers was a World War II veteran born on July 2nd, 1925. The morning of his death, Evers pulled into his driveway after a meeting from NAACP lawyers. After emerging from his car, Evers was struck in the back from a bullet and it ripped through his heart. Evers was the first African American to be admitted to an all-white hospital in Mississippi. With full military honors, Evers was buried in Arlington National Cemetery on June 19th.
