25 déc. 1956 - Fred Shuttlesworth House Bombed

Description:

Following the Brown v. Board of Education decision, pastor Fred Shuttlesworth decided to participate in the ever expanding civil rights movement. He co - founded the SCLC with Martin Luther King and Bayard Rustin. He would later be seen as one of the movement's "big three", which also included King and Ralph D. Abernathy.

Following the desegregation of the Montgomery buses, he attempted to implement bus desegregation in his hometown of Birmingham after his house was bombed on Christmas while he was home.

When he and his wife took their daughter to integrate a white school, they were attacked by a Klu Klux Klan mob.
