1 janv. 1911 - 1911- Ernest Rutherford

Description:

Often called the father of nuclear chemistry and physics, Ernest Rutherford discovered the nucleus, proton, alpha particle, and beta particle. He is most well-known for his experiment with gold foil. During this experiment, Rutherford shot positively charged particles (alpha) at a thin piece of gold foil at a high speed. Through his observations, he found that a majority of the atom is empty space with a very small positively charged nucleus.
