19 oct. 1939 - First Air Raid
Description:
Her mum packed their bags, and they set off straight away, taking any bus or train going North.
They arrived home and my Grandma felt as though she was in Heaven. Her Dad, Grandad, and Jean had stayed at home and they were surprised and delighted to see them.
At the time air raids were not frequent. the first time the siren went they rushed into the Shelter and put on their gas masks - but nothing happened
