1 janv. 314 av. J.-C. - Oldest record of Sweet Oranges (Citrus x sinensis)
Description:
Sweet Oranges were first made in the South Himalayan region.
Simply put, Sweet Organges were made by crossing a Pomelo plant (Citrus maxima) with a Mandarin plant (Citrus reticulata). However, it’s very likely that neither the Pomelo nor the Mandarin were pure because of backcrossing. Sweet Oranges today are 42% Pomelo and 58% Mandarin.
