1 janv. 1820 - Missouri Compromise

Description:

-Missouri applied for statehood in the Union which threatened to throw off the balance of free and slave states in the Senate
-Important to the South because the North had a bigger population so had more seats in the House
-The compromise stated that Missouri would be admitted as a slave state and Main would be admitted as a free state; Anything (Except Missouri) in the Louisiana Territory above the 36 30 line would be free and anything below would be enslaved
