Description:
This battle happened at the Volturno River on the 1st and 2nd October but the remaining enemy troops retreated to the fortress of GaetaGaribaldi’s red shits, swelled to 60,000 many of them radical republicans eager to march north and capture Rome. to prevent this Piedmont’s army moved south crushing the Papal states, crushing the Papal States forces under the pretext of restoring the order. The french reluctantly agreed.
