Description:
-Columbian Exchange: transfer of food, animals, minerals, people, and diseases between Africa, Europe, Asia, (Old World) and the Americas (New World)
-New World to Old World: nutritious foods (maize, tomatoes, tobacco, etc)
-Old World to New World: grains and animals (rice, wheat, oats, cattle, pigs, etc) - Changed farming and diet for Natives; disease; slaves via Atlantic Slave Trade
-Atlantic Slave Trade: slaves traversed the Middle Passage across the Atlantic - many died from disease/starvation/overcrowding
-Slave trading before was prisoners of war/payment for someone's death; had some legal rights and bondage was not permanent/inheritable
-Slave trading after was the exchange of slaves for goods (ie. guns) in raided/conquered places
-Moral justification was that slavery was biblical
