As a direct result of the single-candidate election of Saleh's Vice President Hadi to power following the Yemeni revolution, Houthi-led forces take over the capital of Sanaa and, allied with military forces loyal to the previous President Saleh, begin an insurgency to obtain control of the Yemeni government until Saudi intervention helps to restore it.The two sides continue to face off today
