Description:

Strategic Arms Limitation Talks. It was a series of negotiations between the US and USSr to limit the growth of nuclear weapons around the world. In SALT 1 superpowers were limited to two ABM sites each and there was a freeze of intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine launched missiles countries could deploy and develop. This is significantly because it eased tensions between the US and USSR and showed the willingness of diplomacy between the two.
