15 mai 1932 - May 15th Incident 1932 PM Inukai assassinated

Description:

The Blood League, consisting of young army and navy cadets, organised a military coup to bring about a Showa Restoration, wherein a military dictatorship would rule on behalf of the emperor, or Showa.

- PM Inukai assassinated (blamed for not supporting invasion of Manchuria, not being able to recover the economy)

- offenders received very light punishment

- effectively marked the end of Taisho Democracy as the army and navy began to choose PMs and politicians were intimidated into silence
