Led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the SCLC's main goal was to achieve desegregation through non-violent protest. Their efforts led to the passage of the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act. After King's assassination, the SCLC continued for years and continued their mission leveraged by the morality of the church.
