Description:
Following the war, the Iraqi government and Kurdish leader Barzani engage in negotiations to end the fighting. The Iraqi-Kurdish Autonomy Agreement of 1970 is signed, granting self-governance to Kurdistan as well as representation in government bodies.This agreement ends up failing as the Iraqi government begins to practice Arabization in Kurdish regions, the practice of assimilating non-Arab societies, such as the Kurdish ethnic group, to become Arab.
