Description:

Following the withdrawal of British troops, Israel is declared an independent nation from British rule and the rest of Palestine, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is formed as its national military. The British Mandate for Palestine is repealed the following day.

The US immediately shows support for the state of Israel.
