31 juill. 1759 - The Battle of Montmorency Falls and Wolfe’s Revenge:

Description:

Montcalm didn't want to send his army to engage the british, so Wolfe pressed the matter himself. He decided that they would make one grand attack. On July 31st 4000 British soldiers attacked Beauport and Montmorency Falls. The French crushed the British that were attacking. This left Wolfe humiliated by the pounding him and his British troops took, and it didn't help that they were beat by the French militia! The British interpreted this as humiliation! They went on a tirade of burning the countryside (23 villages and more than and 1,400 farms) The French thought of this as an easy win, they were said to be “shooting fish in a barrel.”
