29 déc. 311 av. J.-C. - Aristarchus of Samos Aristarchus of Samos (born c. 310 bce—died c. 230 bce) was a Greek astronomer who maintained that Earth rotates on its axis and revolves around the Sun. On this ground, the Greek philosopher Cleanthes the Stoic declared in his Against Aristarchus that Aristarchus ought to be indicted for impiety “for putting into motion the hearth of the universe.”
