The power of the Fujiwara clan declined, and other clans battled to take their place. The Minamoto clan came to power in 1185 AD, Minamoto No Yoritomo rose to power. The Japanese capital was moved to Kamakura (near modern day Tokyo), they ruled in the name of the Emperor. They had a strong military and had a military dominated government system (Bakufu), under a person who is the political and military leader, the Shogun.
