may 25, 2012 - LA H 121 Author: Lopinto (R) (Need to figure out how this changes previous statute) Removes parole volunteer work and reading program requirements. Requires parolees not associate with other known offenders. If parole is revoked, time served on parole doesn't count.

Description:

Revises conditions of parole to require parolees report to the parole officer no later than 48 hours after being placed on parole, to require parolees avoid bars and casinos, refrain from the use of illegal drugs or alcohol, and not associate with people known to be involved in criminal behavior. Removes the stated supervision fee of $63 and replace it with the requirement that supervision fees be set by the corrections department. Removes the requirement that parolees perform at least 100 hours of unpaid community service, and removes the requirement that parolees devote themselves to an approved reading program. Stipulates that if parole is revoked for any reason, all good time earned or any additional credits earned or which could have been earned on that portion of the sentence served prior to the granting of parole are forfeited, and requiring the parolee serve the remainder of the sentence as of the date of release on parole.
