Description:
Establishes the Orleans Justice and Rehabilitation Reform Commission to analyze and study the current public safety crisis in the parish, the powers, functions, policies, and training of government and non-government entities, including their fiscal powers, the existing, necessary, and desirable allocation of state and local fiscal resources, the most efficient use of the correctional system and community resources, alternatives to incarceration, and physical structures utilized by the justice system. Lists committee membership, requires two meetings per year and authorizes staff support. Requires the commission to report to the Legislature by March 1, 2016, including any constitutional or statutory amendments that may be required to implement recommendations of the commission.
