nov 9, 1989 - Fall of the Berlin Wall
Description:
The leader of the East German Communist Party said that the citizens of East Germany could cross the border whenever they pleased. That night, giant crowds of people stormed the wall. Some people crossed freely into West Berlin, while others brought hammers and pickaxes to begin destroying the wall. Still to this day, the Berlin Wall remains one of the most powerful and enduring symbols of the Cold War.
