Description: Germany wanted to weaken Britain before moving its forces in so the Luftwaffe, the German air force, was sent in. They used a new type of warfare called Blitzkrieg which is translated as flash war. Winston Churchill, the prime minister at the time would not give up without a fight and sent the Royal Air Force to defend.
Significance: Weakened Great Britian, but ultimately was unsuccesul.
